Attending your first spin class can be a bit nerve-wracking. Everyone in Wayne, NJ has heard horror stories about bad or downright exhausting classes. There are a few tips you can keep in mind to make this type of workout easier and much more effective.
Bring A Lot of Water
These types of classes are designed to make you sweat. Make sure you bring plenty of water to keep yourself hydrated during and after the class. Depending on the intensity level, you may want to also bring a mixture of water and electrolytes. You can often find this combination in sports drinks, though if you want something with less sugar, you can pick up electrolyte packs at health food stores and mix them into water yourself.
Attend a Class Based on Your Skill
When you attend your first class, be sure you go to one that is geared to your skill level. For example, if you have never attended before, you should be sure to sign up for a beginner’s class. Others who are slightly more advanced, but not experts, should consider sticking with an intermediate class. You know you are ready to progress to the next level when a class is no longer as challenging as it once was.
Go Again
Even if you hated your first class, don’t give up just yet. Try a different class with another instructor or one aimed at a different crowd. As with almost any type of exercise, you need to stick with it if you want to see a difference in your health. Most people find they do not like the first class they attend but get in a groove after going to two or three.
Going to a spin class is a start to getting your body in shape.
