Whether you’re going on a vacation or you’re just going right up the road from home, you might need to take your pet along for the ride. Here are a few tips to keep in mind for traveling with your furry friend.
Travel Crate
Thinking about traveling with your pet? Consider getting a crate. It can be put in the back seat of your car or in the rear area if you have an SUV or van. Make sure the door on the crate is secure, strapping the crate to the seat with a latch if at all possible so that it doesn’t move around. The crate can keep your pet from trying to move around while the vehicle is in motion.
Toys
Thinking about traveling with your pet? Try to take a toy or two along for the ride to calm your pet. The toy will have the scent of your home on it, which can make your pet feel comfortable. If your pet is in a crate, don’t put too many toys in it, as it can be difficult for them to get to a point where they can get adjusted inside.
Documents
Before leaving home, make sure you get any necessary documents that might be needed for your pet. These include vaccination records, proof of ownership, and any insurance information that pertains to your pet. If you plan to stay in a hotel while away from home, you might need this information so that your pet is allowed to be in the room with you.
