The right foods for your anti-aging diet

Everybody knows that good health is the result of eating healthy foods but perhaps everyone does not know that these same foods that are important for health also make you look younger and feel younger. Eating these anti-aging superfoods many even delay the actual aging process.

Heart disease, diabetes and other life threatening diseases can be fought off if fruit, green vegetables, fish, nuts and grains are eaten as a method of protection. The blood vessels will be in good shape and that is very important to not only your heart, but your other organs as well. There are foods that can protect against impaired vision and hearing, perhaps even be valuable in combating Alzheimer’s disease.

Colorful fruits and vegetables: Leafy greens, deep red strawberries, tomatoes, carrots and blueberries all capable of stopping molecules that are unstable from attacking and damaging healthy cells in your body. When cells die you feel no pain, but you most certainly see it with the increase in wrinkles, the drying of skin and memory loss.

Vitamin C, zinc and beta-carotene are important in fighting vision degeneration. For people with macular degeneration eating kale, spinach, collard greens; any dark green vegetable are most helpful. Eye sight is also helped when bright produce, the likes of corn, green and red peppers and oranges is eaten.

Grapes and red wine contain an antioxidant that is helpful in combating premature aging, cancer and heart disease.

Vitamin C which is in yellow and green vegetables has been proven to keep skin looking younger and healthier.

Whole grains that are rich in fiber, such as oats, barley, wheat, brown rice and quinoa are thought to be beneficial in reducing the chance of developing type 2 diabetes. The grains are also beneficial in keep blood vessels healthy which promotes healthy organs.

Fish and fish oil are rich in Omega-3 fatty acids and are great at combating the aging process. Fish are at the top of the list of anti-aging superfoods, reducing the risk of stroke and may even reduce the risk of getting Alzheimer’s disease. The best fish are salmon, lake trout and tuna. Albacore tuna packed in water has the most Omega-3 if you cannot get fresh tuna.

Dairy foods are rich in Calcium and Vitamin D, both needed for strong bones. Osteoporosis is one of the risks associated with aging, drinking low fat milk ensures strong bones and is also good at keeping the cholesterol under control, helping in the fight against heart disease.

Nuts are among the healthiest of foods. People often avoid nuts as they think they are high in fat, they are not, they reduce your blood pressure and cholesterol by up to 20%.

Plan your diet around healthy foods and not vitamin supplements, you will find a significant difference in the way you look and feel.
